Ever since I can remember I was in Special Education, I was in there because of my anger issues and ADHD. I eventually was put into a special high school, which was a self-contained one. That meant small teacher to student ratio. I thrived in this environment, and was given the chance to find who I really was, and build upon it. I eventually became Student Government President and unofficial leader of the High School student body, I was the go to for many aspects of the high school, from teacher’s aide to tech support. I honestly have never felt more appreciated then when I was at that school. Bottom line is this: many people think special education students are not up to par with the mainstream student body, but in many ways they are above. I believe this because despite our disabilities, we are all driven to better ourselves and make the best out of our disabilities. Every day is a struggle, but we don’t let it stop us
